The Association was formed in 1982 by nine clubs catering for the products of the Rootes Group. The objective of the Association was to encourage the founder clubs to communicate and co-operate in areas of common interest. Since then, the number of member clubs has grown to 13, and a number of overseas clubs have become affiliated to the Association. Since its foundation, ARCC has organised a number of events for the members of its constituent clubs, including the incredibly successful Millennium Rally which took place during August, 2000. The Millennium Rally was the largest gathering ever of Rootes Group enthusiasts. Altogether, over 2000 Rootes vehicles attended the event. The ARCC Millennium Rally was voted Best Club Event of the Millennium Year by Classic and Sportscar magazine.
